Trial Set for Wisconsin Man Charged in Motorcycle Deaths of Muskegon Bikers
Posted on Jun 20, 2012 9:12am PDT
A 25 year old Wisconsin man accused of driving into the path of 12 Muskegon Michigan motorcycle riders, while they were riding in Wisconsin on an annual “run,” is now facing charges of second degree reckless homicide, second degree reckless endangerment, three counts of second degree reckless injury, as well as felony bail jumping. More than 60 motorcyclists from ABATE of Wisconsin were at the preliminary hearing.
Clinton Lovelace, the charged driver, crossed the centerline and hit 10 of the 12 motorcycles. One man, Daniel Winsemius, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another rider, Douglas Yonkers, died June 7 from injuries sustained in the crash. Crash victims Eric Vandam and Douglas Williams remain on life support at Theda Clark Medical Center in Wisconsin. Five of the other riders were treated for injuries that included broken knees and ribs.
Unused syringes and a piece of brown paper that police say appeared to contain LSD, were found in Lovelace’s jeans.
